About Me
Shirley Zhu is a senior at Bellaire High School in Houston, Texas. She is the President of the Bellaire Student Council, and the co-founder of Fresh Hub, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting food deserts and eradicating food waste. For her work in Fresh Hub, Shirley has received the Prudential Spirit of Community State Finalist Award and the President’s Environmental Youth Award. Not only is Shirley passionate about tackling the inequities that plague our community, but she is also an ardent computer scientist. She enjoys the intellectual challenge of advanced computer science. She is a 2020 NCWIT Aspirations in Computing National Winner and Gold in the USA Computing Olympiad. Shirley hopes that, in the future, she will dovetail her coding skills with her work in nonprofits to create innovative solutions that shape the world into a better place. In her free time, Shirley is painting, writing, or reading various books.
